| WHAT IT TAKES

What does it take to become the world's most powerful leader?
What It Takes, an upcoming documentary from Ether Films, delves into America's most prestigious spectator sport, the election of the President.
The film captures the intensity of the 2008 presidential election, getting up close and personal with presidential candidates, their die-hard supporters, political scholars, and the nation’s most-watched political pundits (including interviews with Dan Rather, Keith Olbermann, the late Tim Russert, and many more). What It Takes focuses on the personalities of the presidential candidates and those who support them, avoiding dry details like campaign strategy or fundraising.
At its heart, What It Takes is a story of volunteers. We introduce Luke Loper: a handsome, charismatic, passionate Barack Obama supporter, who is inspired by Obama’s message of change and has donated countless hours to the Obama campaign. The film opens on the morning of the Democratic National Convention as Luke prepares for a trip to Denver in pursuit of a ticket to watch Obama deliver his acceptance speech. As we watch him search for a ticket, we learn about his lifelong passion for politics and his dream of helping Obama get elected. We also discover that, in spite of his tireless campaigning, 17-year-old Luke will be too young to vote in November’s election.
This election has been the most-watched, most-debated election in recent history. What It Takes is both timely and relevant to the American public and will engage a wide audience, from political junkies to first-time voters.

In other news: While we are intently non-partisan, our interviewees are drawn from all over the political spectrum. Two such interviewees in New Hampshire were conservative talk radio hosts Doug Lambert and Skip Murphy, who were kind enough to invite us to join them for a segment of their show back in January.
